Steelers hoping new depth on defensive line key to improving unit

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward was straight forward about his expectations for the line, and the word is depth.

“We have to be well conditioned, we have to be ready for that but if we have guys who are able to step up, we welcome it.”

“I can stay in, we’ve been doing it,’’ Heyward said, via the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

“But my goal is to be ready for the game and be ready for the fourth quarter, that’s when games are decided. If we can get a rotation, that’s great. But if the cards we get dealt and we only have so many guys, then I’m going to play. I’m not going to moan about it or cry about it because it just means we got to make more plays.”

“I see other guys growing but those guys really stick out because they’ve had years under their belts,’’ Heyward said. “We’re just about including them and trying to make them grow in our defense.”
