As he and Bruce Irvin did last week – raising their fists in protest during the national anthem – Oakland Raiders linebacker Malcolm Smith says he’ll continue to do it.
The Raiders face Baltimore on Sunday.
Smith and Irvin’s decisions to protest was reportedly in the spur of the moment with head coach Jack Del Rio unaware.
“We mentioned it, but honestly we haven’t talked too much about it in detail,” Smith said. “Everybody’s focused on the game. The last thing I want to do is distract us from game-planning and preparing, so I’m going to go about things just a similar way as last week and continue to pay respect and also recognize the issues at hand.”
“I don’t know,” he said about other teammates potentially joining him this Sunday. “It’s not something we really talk about in here.”
