While no word has come down just whether this man will be charged with the murder of former NFL running back Joe McKnight, a new story from The New Orleans Advocate reported that the shoot, 54-year-old Ronald Gasser was previously cited for battery stemming from a incident at the same intersection that knight was killed at Thursday afternoon.
“During this incident, an unidentified 51-year-old man from Marrero called 911 in Jefferson Parish to report that a man had been driving a red pickup unsafely on Holiday Drive. The caller said he first called a phone number he saw on the truck and an individual, later identified as Gasser, answered and said he was the one driving the truck.
An argument began between the caller and Gasser. The caller said that when he reached Behrman and Holmes, he pulled in to refuel his vehicle. He said Gasser, who had followed him into the station, confronted him and punched him several times before driving away. The victim then called 911. Investigators located Gasser and issued the misdemeanor summons, which was later dismissed, for undetermined reasons, the Sheriff’s Office said.”
Gasser, as you know, stayed on the scene after the shooting and was brought in for questioning, but was not arrested. He was released later without any charges being filed.
