Giants, McAdoo hit with fines for walkie-talkie use

The NFL has come down hard on a team that is not the Patriots.

On Friday, the league announced that they would be levying fines on the New York Giants –  $150,000, and its head coach Ben McAdoo – $50,000, as well as dropping their future 2017 fourth-round draft pick down 12 spots, which could drop below compensatory picks, per ESPN.

In the Giants’ win over the Cowboys on Dec. 11, McAdoo went for the walkie-talkies in the 4th quarter when the team was having headset troubles. The use of the walkie-talkies is illegal.

“Obviously, I don’t want to rehash what happened,” McAdoo said. “I made the decision in the heat of the moment and I violated the rule. I own that decision. I take responsibility for it.

“There are no excuses. I deserve to be held accountable for my actions. I accept the penalty and move forward.”
