Former Panthers defensive end Kony Ealy is excited at the prospect of playing for the Super Bowl champs, telling ESPN’s Josina Anderson, “It gives me a better opportunity to do what I do. I’m ready.”
In 2016, Ealy didn’t quite live up to the hype after a stellar Super Bowl appearance against the Broncos in 2015. Had the Panthers won, he would’ve likely garnered the prized MVP with 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception.
But 2016 saw a big drop off (32 tackles, 5 sacks) in his play, which culminated in Carolina comfortable with getting a 2nd-round pick in exchange for Ealy and the Pats’ 3rd-rounder.
Now the 25-year-old has a new start in New England.
