Safety Nate Allen has lofty aspirations for Dolphins

Free agents seem to be flocking to Miami, and former Raiders, Eagles safety Nate Allen is one of the latest, signing a one-year, $3.4 million contract with the team after a visit on Friday.

Allen, a Fort Myers native, feels right at home in Miami, and sees great things happening for 2016 and beyond.

“I just like what’s going on here,” he said. “I’m close to home. My family can come watch me play. There’s certain things you can’t put a dollar sign on that appeal to me about being here in Miami… At this point in my career, I want to enjoy who I’m playing with and be part of a group that has a chance to do something big. That’s what I feel we can do in Miami.”

Allen hasn’t played a full season in almost two years due to a lingering MCL issue, but says that’s all behind him now as he embarks on a fresh start with a new team:

“I’m healthy; I feel good,” he added. “I had that MCL thing, but that’s all good. I played all last year. No problems. I wasn’t hampered by it last year.”
