New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower was quite a hot commodity entering free agency.
After visiting (and leaving) the Jets, Hightower traveled south for a visit with Pittsburgh.
The Steelers wanted him so bad (or perhaps didn’t want to be a mere pawn in Dont’a’s contract chess game) that they reportedly gave him an ultimatum – board the plane without getting a deal done or the deal’s off.
And that’s exactly what he did – boarded that plane, flew back to New England and agreed to a four-year, $43.5 million deal. His agent tweeted the news Wednesday:

The deal also has $19 million in guaranteed money, his agent confirmed to ESPN.
