Packers going with defense early in draft, Mixon in play for round 2

According to the Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller, the Green Bay Packers are expected to bolster their defense in many areas during the first round and beyond in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Miller: ‘A source on the scouting staff said the plan is to go defense early and often in this draft, unless a surprise player falls in Round 1. The same source said Joe Mixon is very much in play in Round 2. He remains on their board.’

The Packers had embattled, yet talented running back Joe Mixon in for a visit earlier this month, and are reportedly very interested, along with a few other teams, per Peter King.

“I’m hearing the Oklahoma running back, who had the 2014 incident of punching a female student in the face, has garnered the most interest from Cincinnati, Minnesota, Green Bay and Jacksonville.”
