Although he comes with decent stats out of Ole Miss, quarterback Chad Kelly will forever go by the name of 2017’s ‘Mr. Irrlelevant.’
The Denver Broncos drafted him Saturday with the final pick in this year’s draft, at No. 253rd overall.
Kelly is recovering from wrist surgery and is expected to need at least 2 months before he starts throwing again. The wrist injury came after a scary torn ACL last season, which makes him a low risk choice going forward for Denver.
But a healthy Kelly, who’s actually the nephew of former Buffalo QB Jim Kelly, will get his chance in what’s basically an open competition with not-so-shoe-ins Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch on the current depth chart.
