Green Bay Packers head coach likens his newest defensive back, rookie Josh Jones to Micah Hyde, who bolted to Buffalo in free agency.
“Given the comparable, you look at Micah,” McCarthy said of Jones’ similar versatility, per Packers.com.
“Micah Hyde played multiple positions. I think you look for Josh to do that too. Let him compete for those type of roles on our defense, especially in our different sub packages.”
GM Ted Thompson also praised Jones and what attracted him as a draft pick:
“He can be used in the slot as a cover guy, he can be used in the box as a run defender, he can be in the deep part of the defense and play in the deep middle,” Thompson said. “I think he’s going to surprise people when they see what he can do.”
