Ken Norton Jr. out, Pagano in as Raiders DC

The Oakland Raiders made a big move after their resounding beatdown by the Patriots on Sunday, finally pulling the plug on defensive coordination Ken Norton Jr. as a so far dismal defensive 2017 season.

Assistant head coach John Pagano will take his place for the remainder of the season.

“After careful thought, I have made a difficult decision to part ways with Ken Norton, Jr. as defensive coordinator,” coach Jack Del Rio said in a statement.

“I have the utmost respect for Ken as a person and as a coach, but I feel that moving John Pagano into the play-calling role will best utilize his wealth of experience. I appreciate Ken’s passion and commitment to the┬áRaiders┬ásince coming aboard and wish him the best going forward.”

Currently, the Raiders are ranked 26th in total defense, giving up an average of 367 yards per game.
